Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

When you own a car then absolutely there are a lot of good things and awesome benefits you surely get from owning a car.  But along with all the good and benefits are the car problems that come with it.The sad part about a lot of these common problems of cars is that they should have been avoided early.  In this article we are going to look at some steps you can take to avoid these problems.

First of all a car owner has to really make extra sure that he or she do not neglect their car.It is so easy and simple to just get in you car and go everyday. But doing that very thing can really lead you to common problems that will certainly pop up when you don’t take care of it.  And when you have unexpected car problems this is when they are most expensive. So I suggest all my customers of my San Diego auto repair shop to always keep their car on a regular maintenance schedule.

Well part of that regular maintenance schedule is to make sure to take your car in for regular tune ups.Due to the fact that it takes care of a lot of the most important car problems, that is why tune ups are great for your car. One of those problems that can happen as your car gets older are failing a smog test. I try to remind people in my San Diego smog check shop that this is a common problem they can avoid.

Finally an area of the car that gets used heavily are the brakes.  This is  a source of another common car problem, brake problems. But by just using your brakes correctly and the fluids right you can actually make your brakes last longer.  That is one of the main pieces of advice I give to my customers of my San Diego brake shop

So these were some of the common problems that really happen to most cars. The nice thing about it is that if you pay good attention to properly maintaining it, then you can definitely avoid these common problems.

Tips in maintaining older cars

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

With the kind of economy that we are in right now people are making sure that their things last longer. Gone are the days when people would just replace old things with new things.Cars are included in that list of items. With cars you really have to maintain them to make sure they last.Because not doing so will result to them breaking down.So here are some advice on maintaining your car’s life.

First of all one of the biggest mistakes clients of my San Diego auto repair shop do is not change their oil regularly.Let us similarize our blood to the oil of the car.  Without it your car won’t run.And if you do not replenish its oil regularly then the running condition of the car will be affected. In the long run, this can remove some years off your car’s life. You must regulalrly maintain the oil of your car if you want to make it last.

Next thing you must make a point to do is to regularly do tune-ups.Not doing regular tune-ups would result to an engine that does not function well. And the result of engine that does not function well may be a failed smog test.  In my San Diego smog check shop most of the cars that fail were cars that didn’t do regular tune ups.  It is something simple but can have a big impact on the life fo your car.

Lastly, you should take care of your brakes.  In my San Diego brake service business I try to let my clients know how important it is to care for your brakes.  This is one part of your car you don’t want to fail.It can also be very expensive to replace broken brakes.Always see to it that your brake fluid levels are always filled. And do not be too heavy-ffoted when breaking.Prepare yourself to break as far as possible to the next thing in front of you so as to avoid breaking and stepping suddenly on the break pedals.

If you do these things you will surely have a car that will last a long time.

Saving money on auto repair

Monday, September 28th, 2009

All of us know that it is expensive to have our car fixed and maintained. If it is still new you wouldn’t have problems on spending a lot on maintenance and repairs. But as it ages it will need more attention and maintenance. So let’s look at the ways to avoid spending too much when going to an auto shop.

In my San Diego auto repair shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.So what should be done to avoid this?Keeping your car maintained is the best that you can do to avoid expenses.Don’t wait until something happens to your car.Keep it in a good condition.

One of the best ways to keep your car running at its best is to have it undergo regular tune-ups. This prevents any problems sneaking up on you.  It also keeps your engine running smoothly.Regular visits for tune-ups of your car will save you a lot of money from repairs in the long run. Not passing the smog test is one the problems caused by not properly tuning up your car.  I have seen older cars in my San Diego smog check shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test. This may lead to more complications.

The brakes are another part of the car whih are getting neglected. A lot of people are surprised by a part of their cars-the brakes. It suprises then when they see the bill for its repair and maintenance.  Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brake shop when they see how expensive it can be.  But if they had just taken care of their brakes they could have avoided it.

Taking care of your car to so as not to get ripped is the main point here.  A properly maintained car will have less problems for shops to say is wrong with it.

Things to know about how to maintain your car

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

In this day and age everybody needs a car.  Some people need planes. But for many people, the use of a car is critical to surviving. It is able to transport people to their jobs.  It takes people to go shopping.  It takes people to school.  So what I would like to share is the 3 important parts of keeping your car in order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a San Diego auto repair company. The two areas we need to take a closer look at is the health of your car and your overall safety.

So when it comes to safety you can put all types of maintenance as being critical to safety. But there is a part of your car that is critical to safety. That part of the car is your brakes.  With cars going faster and faster you need good brakes. With more and more people having so many distractions good brakes are a must.By taking the proper steps to care for them you will always have the ability to brake in time.Brakes that you make sure are well maintained will save lives and save money.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brakes shop.

In reference to keeping your car healthy the critical thing to remember is to keep your car maintained.  Some of the important things to do are oil changes and tuneups. By keeping your car’s oil maintained your car runs smoother and longer.By not making sure your oil is always changed you can end up ruining your engine.

Another important point you should remember to do is have regular tune ups done.If you can do that you will be able to keep your car’s important functions taken care of.By performing this step you will have a car that runs smoother and cleaner. If you are unable to do this your car will be running very badly.  Some of the consequences could lead to failed smog tests.  Most of the cars that fail in my San Diego smog check shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So by doing these two things you will keep your car safe and you and your loved ones safe.

Ways a used car can cost you more money

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Well the time of people having a lot of wealth and extravagance is now gone.  For most Americans luxuries like new cars are a thing of the past. Now in these times when a family is in need of a new car they have to look into a used car.  This is evident in all of the financial problems the big 3 carmakers are having.  There sales are down.

But most families will still need some sort of transportation. But when the money is hard to come by most families are going to have to choose a cheaper option. That alternative choice is a used car.

As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.  Because when you are buying a used car you don’t want a lemon. So by making sure there is proper inspectino performed, you can avoid most expensive repairs.

So when you are looking over these cars remember these couple of items to inspect.First you will want to inspect the brakes.  We do San Diego brakes in our shop.  So I know first hand that brake repairs can become expensive. If you buy an auto that the owners didn’t take care of the brakes, that could lead to very expensive repairs.  Last thing you want is to have to replace the entire braking system. So be sure you have good brakes.

Second, you want to ensure that the car is running clean.Another way to say it, can it pass the smog test.  In my business I do smog test in San Diego.  The last thing you want is to purchase a car that will need expensive repairs.  Especially if those repairs involve emission problems.

If you buy a car that is unable to pass a smog check, that won’t be good.  It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.What probably happened is they didn’t do any tuneups or oil changes. These could be the start of a lot more problems in the future.

If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not doing proper checking you can fall into some huge repair bills.  When you are trying to save money I am sure you don’t want that.
